Sony Ericsson K800 Review

Sony Ericsson K800It is here. A Cyber-shot digital camera and a small and sophisticated feature-packed 3G phone all in one. Bring the K800i with you and you have a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, image and video stabilizer and built-in Xenon flash ready for any moment, anytime. In addition, the BestPic technology lets you capture several images in quick succession with one press of the camera key. Pick the best. Delete the rest. A camera stabilizer function compensates any small movement of your hand when you are taking a picture and shooting video. When you have taken a photo, you can share it straight away using Bluetooth, multimedia messaging or blog it.

The phone has 72-tone polyphony, but there is no difference when mp3 playback is compared to k750i. The volume is average, sound has bass dominance, the sound is saturated. However it is possible to miss a call when you are outdoors (everything matches K750). Vibrating alert power is average or slightly above average, but it is not felt all the time. Network reception quality is good, everything is typical for this manufacturer. At the moment there are no analogues of this phone, not in terms of size, nor the amount of functions included. The screen was improved significantly, I had a feeling that I switched from old lamp TV-set to latest Plasma model, this is a great advantage. Form-factor is acceptable, it does not raise any concerns, I connected Bluetooth stereo headphones right from the start, and most of the time the phone stayed in the holster. Built-in web-browser is really great, and sometimes it can replace Opera Mini without any disadvantages. Overall functionality is set at rate of year 2006-2007, which makes the models highly interesting. There are no significant negative consequences while using this handset, for an average K750i user interface seems simple and logical.

Although more susceptible to camera shake than a low-end digital camera, the Sony Ericsson K800i is in fact capable of replacing just such a product; a considerable feat, even though the vast majority of users will not want to rely on it for preserving precious memories. Its imaging prowess is backed up by strong performance in the areas of calling and messaging, while its browser is of the rather mediocre sort; handy, then, that the overall impression is picked up by the inclusion of a stereo FM radio with RDS, a RSS reader and even a sprinkle of stereo Bluetooth audio for an otherwise unnoteworthy MP3 player. What's positive: Outstanding image quality; good voice and messaging performance; stereo Bluetooth audio. What's negative: Limited onboard memory; no bundled memory; a tad hefty; slight text entry lag.

There is absolutely no doubt that the K800i is one of the more sophisticated, and most interesting, phones of our time. The K800i is a complete phone with all you’d expect from a phone-only handset, plus more. Everything from top to bottom has been done well – including the further-improved phone menu system (UI), ergonomics all round, overall functionality, and (not forgetting of course) the 3.2-megapixel Cyber-shot camera. What more could anyone have asked for, really?

I use this phone for about 1.5 years right now, and I'm still really satisfied with the photo quality and the features it provides. It's very easy to use, and the quality of the screen is awesome! The only downside of this phone is the extremely bad quality of the sound, which really starts to annoy me... It's easy to miss a call because of the low ringtone-volume, and the quality of the MP3-sound as well as the video-sound, is really bad compared to other phones! That's the only reason I can't wait to get another phone...

personally i regret buying this phone, it was a waste of money. The vibration is awful, some of the settings are quite had to find. the only way u can send animation is in a picture msg, and the lil faces that you get instead dont usually come up on other phones. considering the camera is quite gd, the video is rubbish, and after a while the fone gets slow. After having the phone for a couple of days, it started freezing and the stuff on the buttons started peeling off. i have had the phone nearly four months and the joystick is becoming VERY tempermental. I would NOT reccommend this phone. Nokias are soooo much better.

I have a K800i and it’s a great phone. I take great pictures with it which is a huge improvement on the Nokia 6230 that I used to have. I can also recommend a cool add on for it. It’s called i-Citizen and it came out recently. It’s the world’s first 3D world and the k800 works like a charm on it. Its fun to play and you can meet people and chat to them as you might have guessed. They have promotions where they give away PS3’s and Xboxes to people in a place called i-Bid in the app. Its beta release was announced in March 2008 and anyone can give it a try. You can get it from your mobiles browser or your pc by going to http://wap.icitizencommunity.com.

This is the worst phone I had. After 6 months, the technical support told me that the transceiver broke down, and I will have to wait 6 weeks before it gets repaired. What an inconvenience. My older nokia fone didn't break down for 5 years.

QUOTE(ukhabbos @ Jan 20 2008, 02:30 AM)I heard that the sound quality was rubbish. But when i got it it wasn't so bad. Also the camera is brillient with all of it's features also. Im not disapointed with this mobile as i have one currently. The only thing i dont like is the big camera cover. Which is why i was first looking for the K810 with a smaller cover. But That makes your phone's camera safe. So you dont need to worry about that.

Ya you are correct. Joysticks are not worthy for playing games so I use keypads for gaming.
