Sony Ericsson K700 Review (Expert)
Overall, the K700 looks great but seems to be very temperamental to use. Nothing that I really wanted to use, seemed to want to work, well not with any ease anyway. The camera and the graphics are good and the 3D gaming will be a big plus. Sadly I wanted the handset to cover the functionality that it has been billed as providing. It might just be the case that, rather like Orange’s original SPV, a number of buggy handsets hit the market early, before all the software kinks were ironed out. Personally I’d prefer to wait a while and see.
As can be seen, the K700 is a very capable device. It does everything that you can expect from a cellular phone and much more. However, with competition from Nokia, the K700 will have to be at the proper price point if it has to win against the Nokia 6230. While offering some innovative features in a very compact case, the only drawback, if you can call it one, is the absence of a memory expansion slot.
K700i seems to have covered all the bases left opened by its predecessors – right back to those models that were simply branded “Ericsson”. Again, I must praise the vast improvements in the presentation of the entire phone as a whole, specifically the UI and choice of display. And the ability to choose the SIM card’s phonebook as the K700i’s main phonebook made it clear to me that “change” has finally taken hold.

if your phone is new, try to minimize use of the joystick. use shortcut keys e.g. to access your inbox, press menu-5-2 or left-2 (if messaging is assigned to left navig. key) & so onfor joystick problems, a little spritz (not craploads) of WD-40 should fix it - it worked for my phone ü
this is my first sony ericsson cellular phone the memory maybe is not enough but when i try to charge a movie in several formats like H.264 codec nokia and movie clips in mpeg 4 format this cellular can reproduce all formats i very proud of model k700i. ok the joystick is temperamental but the design and the services like the radio built in and the other features are amazing i recomended this phone certanly the joystick can be cleaned but you need a solder iron and take off the joystick out to the amphenolic plate because inside have a metalic membrane and when this move out to the center the joystick failure good look enjoy the cellular

Great phone, had it nearly 2 years now, however have had 2 problems with it.First is the camera sometimes gets a pink line on the pic (this was right from the start, think it is just a hardware bug that i should have got it fixed under warranty for). The second is the joystick is getting non-responsive now, but i think you can clean it?Overall good phone and it's served me well even after this long time of use. When it first came out it was top of the line and i think it still has some competing edge over newer phones, cheap price but still fairly decent features .
Good phone !Great screen. Much better then my wife's Nokia 6230i.Poor battery. One day intensive use.
This is the most user friendly menu, phone i've got,the only bad thing about is it's joystick!but you can have a multi-function,inexpensive mobile phone if you buy this nice small phone

QUOTE(adonisdemon @ Dec 27 2005, 11:05 PM)not much differece between the k700 and the k700i, most likely it is the same phone.have you tried cleaning the joystick?I have, and it's not that it doesn't work, its just that when you move it to say go upward or downward, the mobile takes it as if you are clicking on it, instead of pushing it, selecting things you don't want to, and it is just driving me crazy. How do I clean the joystick thoroughly? Because that is another thing, I tried opening it to clean it properly, but it just doesn't happen.
