Siemens C65 Review (Expert)
With some surprising features - including bags of memory, WAP 2.0, a solid software package and a camera - the C65 transcends the entry-level class and makes a decent stab at the intermediate world. Application speed, an ancient camera spec, poor audio quality and dubious design let the side down somewhat, however.Positive: Interesting feature set; usable software Negative: Low-res camera; distorting speaker; slow performance
In the end, the C65 is an average choice. It does have an attractive design for a low end phone with a good CIF camera but it's screen feels like something from a previous generation camera plus its poor battery life and buggy firmware leave something to be desired.
As for the quality of connection Siemens C65 has no troubles, it provides confident connection and transmits voice well. The volume of the polyphonic call signal became higher as compared with the previous series, it is heard better. Vibrating alert is average but it is enough for the majority of situations. The model exceeds all the represented devices in its class, it has more memory, IrDA (it can't be used for GPRS connections, but supports OBEX well), battery capacity is enough. Low resolution of the camera and middling photos can hardly be considered disadvantages of the device of this class. The real disadvantage is that software is unready, the device is unstable. As the practice shows the majority of the serious problems will be solved in the first 6-7 months but small defects may stay. Just compare with CX65/ M65 the situation is the same. The present shortcomings are not critical for ordinary users, they will barely notice them. For those who uses the phone as much as possible they will get evident very soon. In that case I advise to wait for several months and then buy the device...Let me note that the device will certainly become the hit of sales and it has no rivals in its segment.
The battery life for the C65 is around 5 hours of talk time and a stand-by time of 250 hours to begin with -- perfect for those long days where no one calls you. However, when you do receive a call you will feel slightly disappointed in the sound of the call. The sound levels don’t seem to be that high a quality and at times you will find it difficult, especially when outside, to hear what the person is saying even with the volume at max. It's pretty much a jack-of-all-trades phone but a master of none. It gives you some of the performance and abilities of the high-end phones but at a reasonable cost. The phone’s biggest rival will be the Nokia 3200, as both combine many of the same features with each phone having its own advantages. In the case of the Siemens C65 the camera and screen quality are much better than the 3200, but the FM radio and flashlight could lure users towards the Nokia. For the price and abilities you couldn't go wrong with one of these nifty little phones.
