Samsung SGH-D600 Review (Expert)
The connection quality is on the level of Samsung phones, no problems. The volume of the call signal increased as compared with the D500 due to several loudspeakers, now the phone is one of the loudest on the market. The power of vibracall is average, no principal improvements. The camera provides with a perfect video quality, though photos are evidently inferior to the Sony Ericsson K750i, Nokia N90. The absence of autofocus and macromode give no points to the D600. The camera is typical of the main products of this autumn, it is average in characteristics and is quite comparable to the Nokia N70. If your main wish is good photo quality, you should have a look at other models. Stereo Bluetooth, Picsel Viewer, image transmission to the external sources are unique features of the phone. The memory card allows using the D600 as a fully-functional mp3 player unlike the D500. There are quite few improvements that increase phone's functionality and make it unique in its class. Taking into consideration the Samsung D500 has had no direct rivals in its form-factor; we can say the D600 will also be popular. An evident Nokia's attempt of launching a rival (Nokia 6270) first points out that Nokia estimates the D600's chances for success as the max high. Now comparing these models is senseless, since the time gap between their launch dates is too big (Nokia 6270 appears in December), at the moment the D600 is already represented in the final versions, and the 6270 is still being developed. Considering the paper specs of the Nokia 6270, it has no evident advantage over the Samsung D600.
MP3s come through loud and crystal clear on Samsung's supplied stereo headphones, which doubles as a handsfree headset for calls. An inline remote control for music would have been a welcome addition, although the large navigation pad on the front of the phone is easy enough to use to change songs. Classic, Rock and Jazz equaliser presets are onboard but are subtle tweaks compared to the over-the-top 3D sound effect, which makes it sound like you're standing in the middle of a large warehouse party with sound bouncing unevenly off every wall. Although not as robust as the Sony Ericsson W800i's MP3 player, the D600 does a good job and allows you to store music into four different albums. Images taken with the D600's 2-megapixel camera came out focused and clear, although we did experience graininess and noise in some low-light conditions. Videos can also be captured in MP4 format up to 352 x 288 pixels, although for some reason we weren't able to play these back on our test PC. When the D600 is running low on power, i.e. the battery status indicator is flashing, the screen dims and functions such as MP3 playing and Java applications become unavailable -- to conserve the remaining juice. We averaged about three day's use of the D600 between charges, with intermittent use of Bluetooth, Java games and MP3 playback. All things considered, we would recommend the D600 to anyone that likes this style of handset. It is quite compact, easy to familiarize yourself with, and has a 2-megapixel camera that is up there with the best of them. If you're just looking for a decent camera phone, do check out the Sony Ericsson K750i.
Samsung's SGH-D600 is a phone that is oh so close to being perfect. The camera takes some really beautiful photos, the display is magnificent, the slider form factor works well, it has quad band GSM support, and a host of other wonderful traits. But it also has one glaring problem: the T9 speed. Granted, that's not as bad a not being able to make calls or something, but for many people, texting is a way of life. It will be a slower way of life if they use the D600. But if you can get past that, I'm certain that you will love the well thought out user interface and physical design that the D600 offers. Even if you are prone to sending a lot of SMS, all of the wonderful attributes of the D600 might be enough to make you forget about the T9 speed. The D600 really is that good, otherwise. With that said, I feel perfectly comfortable giving the SGH-D600 from Samsung a "Highly Recommended" rating.
Well first and foremost we mustn't forget the Samsung D600 is a phone! It is all well and good having a feature rich phone but if it doesn't deliver on the primary function it is intended for than the rest counts for very little. Thankfully the D600 delivers crystal clear calling to be proud of; I have seldom heard such crisp and clear conversations even on a landline - the voice clarity function works as it should so that if there is any background noise it is quickly and effectively nullified. On more than one occasion I have actually had to turn down the volume such was the volume and clarity of the person I was talking to. Although the phone is compact the sliding feature means that the ear and mouthpiece are well positioned during a call and as such purvey sound well. Battery life is average with my rather heavy phone use resulting in a recharge every two days. Texting is easy with the predictive text taking the hassle out of spelling and the keys are spaced well enough apart so that you do not hit the wrong one by mistake. The real boon of the D600 lays with the screen though, it is superbly clear and makes viewing pictures, files and files a pleasure - the menu system seems to have been cleverly thought out so that the minimum of thumb work is needed to access the vast majority of the functions available.
The D600 has a lot of features and have missed out only one thing: infra red. but with bluetooth, infrared is pretty much redundant which is probably what samsung thought. TV output, wireless photo printing (which i didnt mention above)and picsel viewing are three features that won't be found in any phone and make the D600 more desirable. in the two weeks that i've had it, i havent had any problems with it and i am still impressed by it. I sleep with it under my pillow so that whenever i wake up, i can look at it! just kidding. but it is such a joy to look at and also to play with. The only thing i dont like is the fact that i had to buy the microSD card myself, i wish samsung had put one in for me.

I have my samsung d 600 for 13 months.this phone serves me well.the phone has 2.0 mpix camera with flash, pictures taken indoors are horrible but pictures taken outdoors are pritty good.video camera is not very good,it doesen't catch little faster moves and it's not bright.the mobile is good for work but not for fun.the mobile has got very bad battery, with the full batery you can only listen mp3 for abouth 2-2and a half hours, and if you don't take any action the battery will last for abouth 2 days. But the mobile has got some good sides like it can store 120 sounds on the mp3 player.you can conect it to your tv,print with bluetooth or expand your memory with memorycard(t-flash).the mobile has good screen resoluton,it has document reader and it has great desine.I would recomend this phone to buisnes people.I think this phone deserves a solide 4(
Hello there, i have the D600 for a 3 weeks now so i think i have enough experience with this phone to share. So at 1st- battery life is not the best.In standars settings it last about 1 1/2 day. There is a small trick how to increase standby.Go to the setting and choose network selection to 900/1800 only.It will give you approx. 1 more day on standby,so your phone will work about 3 days without need to recharge.2nd - usabilityit's a bit tricky that middle button isn't MENU.So when you wanna get menu you must use left button. The central button (OK/i) finally can confirm, but in the standby mode it's bring you to the wap browser so LOCK the keypad always! The slider mechanism is much more better than in some Nokias.3rd - mediathis phone comes with a decent music player with stereo speakers bundled with 3D surround(great in room). But often in use it drain baterry very well. The phone has a email client which support MSWord and MSExcel documents.4th - screenvery nice, bright. You can set up backlight, dim. Also you can put any pictures as wallpapper. There isn't themes known from Nokia but phone came with 2 skins, which is basic colour backround.5th - accessorythe comes with USB cable and also TV uotput cables, but there is no memory card(microSD-TransFLASH) supplied. This phone can take up to 1GB memory card. Finally,it's a very nice phone well featured so can be usefull for businessmen as well as for entertainment hungry young peoples.
