PalmOne Treo 700w Review (Expert)
The Treo 700w is an evolution, not revolution, of the Treo line - save for the OS change. Its biggest new features are lickey-split EV-DO support and a higher-resolution camera which we're luke warm on. On the software front, Palm's tweaks to the Windows Mobile interface make for an improved one-handed experience yet kinks still exist in the bundled suite of applications. Still, existing Windows Mobile users should find it a very compelling device at a very competitive price, while Treo 650 owners are unlikely to be swayed. What's positive: Retains Treo line's small size, good ergonomics; EV-DO support; good battery life. What's negative:Average performance; display somewhat cramped; one-handed navigation needs work
The Treo 700w, with a modern facelift, won't disappoint. But this device does have certain quirks, like accessing the on-screen dial pad, which requires a couple of key presses, and not coming with built-in Wi-Fi. But the 700w does stay true to the one-handed, stylus-less Treo experience that makes it more usable than its competition. For now, the Treo 700w is a Verizon exclusive that will cost you $499 with a two-year service agreement or $619 without one. Pros: Picture dial; includes comprehensive software; one-handed experience; contextual menu system. Cons: No Wi-Fi; slightly cramped keyboard.
PalmOne Treo 700w Review (User)
I personally love my Palm Treo 700w. I DONT like how thick it. I cant carry it in my pocket, and the stylus ALWAYS comes out. I think that I should come with a wi-fi built in instead of paying $100 to get wifi cards. But it is fairly easy to use, and makes being a busy person easier.
doesn't seem like there is many users of the 700w guess I'll have to play enough to figure out how to get the themes, downloads on to the thing
After seeing my buddy's 700w at work, I'm underwhelmed by the 240 x 240 resolution screen. I'm also not a fan of Microsoft's WM5, preferring instead the Palm Os. The EVDO, however, is phenomenal. It won't make me change from my Treo 650, but I am encouraged for the Treo 700p.
