O2 Xda Atom Review (Expert)
The Xda II Mini was certainly a hit amongst CNET.com.au's audience as it dominated the early months of the year when it came to choosing our top mobiles, and given that the Atom is essentially just a feature set upgrade and a coat of black paint on the same basic design, we see no reason why the Atom won't fare as well. If you're after a small smartphone, the Atom is a solid, albeit not exactly inexpensive choice.
This is a fantastic device. I was impressed while playing with it at the Product Launch back in November 2005, and am equally impressed now. I have prolonged an upgrade from my XDA II and resisted purchasing the XDA IIi. I have now upgraded to the XDA Atom and am completely satisfied. While this device won't suit every user, it will certainly suit most. There is one feature that hasn't been included in the Atom, much to my disappointment. This is a Button Lock. Although the Atom comes with a Device Lock, it doesn't lock any of the hardware buttons to prevent the device powering up! It does prevent the buttons from activating any applications, and locks the screen in a similar way - but I would like to prevent my device powering up when it is sitting in my pocket. This is a bit of an oversight in my books. I would like to make some recommendations to prospective purchasers: If you are seriously considering buying this device, find a shop with a few in stock and try it out first. Check the battery cover clips on and sits firmly, check out the sound quality for clicking noises heard during music playback, and lastly think about the screen size, and if it will be suited to your use.
In fact, we found the Atom to be one of the more stylishly designed devices we have seen...Unfortunately, great expectations often lead to great disappointment, and while there are some aspects of the Atom we simply adore, the overall package left us somewhat dissatisfied. In fact, we recommend you give this unit a miss for the time being, because at the asking price, it doesn't deliver the goods...Our biggest problem with this unit is speed. It is frustratingly slow and this will become apparent almost as soon as you turn it on. The review unit we had even struggled with the on-screen calibration process. For nearly every operation or application we opened, we experienced a significant lag, which is really unacceptable on a newly released model. For some inexplicable reason, O2 have kept the same processor from the Mini - an Intel PXA272 416Mhz. If you are going to release a new unit packed with features and a new operating system, why not then give it a processor that can cope? However, we soon discovered that O2 had shipped us a unit with an old version of the ROM (20051129B2). If you have this version, we strongly recommend you go here to upgrade it, as it makes a substantial difference to the speed of the unit...Operating as a phone, we had no real complaints about the call quality though at times we did detect a slight echo.
O2 Xda Atom Review (User)
O2 Xda Atom is my first PDA Phone, power full Assistant support all office activity, very applicable in my city (Banda Aceh, Indonesia). When i bought it i though it was expensive device, after i discover all it's ability i think it p riceless compare to it's performance My Thanks also to Mobile9 for make my O2 Atom more usable with the reviews and files support
I have just spent 1 month with this phone, i liked it more then HTC touch. Although most of the review say that HTC touch is better choice then O2 Atom, i don't see any advangtage in Touchflow. One of the biggest let down for HTC touch was when my friend and me were trying to play a high defination file on our PPC, i saw a lot of lag on his phone then mine. Anyways thumbs up to O2 Atom and i would give it 10/10.

HiI Bought This New AtomReleased By O2 IT IS AWESOMEIt Beats Nokia N91 Down In Features.ReallyI Am Satisfied With This PDA SoI Reffer U To Buy This One If U Gotta Buy An PDA Device.
MySiteI have been using O2 ATOM for 2 months now. I should say that it is one of the most satisfying mobile I have ever seen. I have had almost all the PDA phones out there. But this one is cool. When I first bought it, it looked cool, but it was very very slow and unstable. But O2 had released 3 ROM updates since then. Now believe me, it is one of the fastest and most reliable PDA's I have had. I have one complaint though. The voice level is still pretty low at times. I am sure O2 is working on another ROM update to take care of it.
