Nokia 6680 Review
The Nokia 6680 is an imaging smartphone that is as sophisticated and successful as you are. With two integrated digital cameras (1.3 megapixels in the back, VGA in the front), you can conduct face-to-face video calls from your phone. The Nokia 6680 imaging smartphone also has video sharing capability, so you can share and view video clips in the middle of a call. Send and receive emails and view attached files on the high-resolution, 262,144-color display. All you have to do is pick it up, insert your SIM, and turn it on - the rest is already inside.
Nokia 6680 Review (Expert)
The Nokia 6680 is one of the best in the connection quality. The Nokia's smartphone caught the signal even in the centre of the room where others (for instance, the Sony Ericsson t630) did only near the window. You won't notice the difference in the area of well covering. The signal is loud and hard to miss even in a noisy street. The vibracall is average. The Nokia 6680 is the best smartphone with no touchscreen for the moment. No direct rivals. Indirect rivals that come into mind is only the HTC Typhoon. It is smaller, lighter, works longer but having a weaker radio component, worse Bluetooth realization. Direct comparison seems incorrect - the devices base on different platforms. We see no sense in changing the Nokia 6630 to a new smartphone. The changes are not as principal. The price for the Nokia 6680 is too high now. It will have fallen to $450-470 by the middle of the summer. The sales will be successful but the announced Nokia N70 will prevent the device from becoming the hit of the sales. The demand of the most refined users will shift to this model and other N-series models.
Touted as a 3G imaging smart phone, it's the first dual-video capable camera handset from the Finnish giant. This unpretentious number from Nokia promises a smooth and enjoyable video-phone experience ideal for both old and new users of 3G technology...The Nokia 6680 may not look fantastic, but it ranks high on functionality and is filled to the brim with features. If you are looking for a feature-rich 3G phone on the familiar Symbian 60 OS, this is the ideal handset for you. If 3G isn't what you want or need, look out for the upcoming Nokia 6681 which is actually a lighter version of the same phone without 3G capabilities and secondary camera.
Whether the Nokia 6680 is an improvement over its predecessor, the 6630, is entirely a matter of preference. For slightly more money, you get dual cameras and an improved standby screen, whereas remaining features are virtually identical. Both are signified by quality hardware and software which together enable a vast array of functionality and blazing data transfer speeds, but business users are still let down by poor synchronization and groupware support. Everyone else, however, will have a blast with the 6680. What's positive: Dual cameras; 3G; good battery life and performance; excellent screen What's negative: Aesthetically mediocre; impractical text input alternator button placement
I loved the 6680 for its dual cameras and the megapixel one at the back. The form factor makes it easy to use and the Series 60 interface remains one of my favorite ones till date. In case you want to save some money and dont think you need 3G capability for some more time; then go in for the 6681 which is a sister of the 6680. While the 6680 certainly does not look chic, its certainly loaded with features and functionality. I was kinda hoping that they would include radio in this as well, but no luck here.
Nokia 6680 is undobtedly the most advanced Series 60 smartphone up to date. It looks very stylish and provides very high quality and full range of functions and services for both GSM and 3G network users. Not only it is powerful and elegant but it also comes packed with software for multimedia, imaging, messaging, office use and more. Fast data transfer in 3G and EDGE networks, stereo audio playback and support for MP3 and AAC, dedicated camera for two-way video calls, 1.3 megapixel camera for print-quality images, fast 220 MHz processor, high quality screen, Instant messaging and Push to talk with dedicated button, good battery and power-efficient hardware providing long standby times, convenient keypad and support for Bluetooth keyboard, hot-swappable memory card.... what else do you need?
The 6680, in my opinion, was a real mixed bag of surprises…And on general looks, the 6680 is probably as boring-looking as any Nokia handset can be! Before, I thought the 6670 (a.k.a. the toned-down or “conservative” version of the 7610) was bad – but this newer model takes the cake! But should its design be the one thing that’s holding you back, my suggestion would be to go for the “Silver Blue” in-box colour over that dreary “Light Bronze” alternative. But on features, specifically with the enhancements made to its imaging function, the 6680 does very well in satisfying the practical needs of its users. Just like the 6630, it’s 3G ready and it comes with a set of solutions (mobile e-mail, PIM tools, MS Office readers, HTML-compliant browsing) that helps make fast mobile data access become more mandatory than optional. And the inclusion of Nokia’s XpressPrint Printing Solution gives 6680 users greater reason for its high-quality, 1.3-megapixel camera to be used for more than just the casual shoot! Ahem… well, my critical comments regarding the 6680’s design may seem personal to some – but hey, looks are in the eye of the beholder, right? But in any case, I do believe that the 6680 is a good all-rounder feature-wise – and is probably a good buy for those who’ve been longing for a 3G-enabled Nokia.

Heads turn - Nokia Impresses Me AgainOk, let me give an early opinion about this Nokia 6680. I have this phone for only one week now but of all the Nokia phones I had, “THIS IS THE BEST ONE”. Although it’s not suitably comparable with Sony Ericsson P900/P910i, I will compare them coz P9 was the phone I had for almost a year now. I will also compare this phone to previous Nokia series 60 phones for which I used in the past years as well. And oh, please forgive my English writing.DESIGN. Before buying the Nokia 6680, I considered the design. The first Nokia cell phone that turned my head back is the 7650. Great style and durable design. I really like the application button that emits bright white light when pressed. I find the 6680 really elegant and sophisticated looking phone just like the SE P9, except that P9 looks really very professional for which I really don’t appreciate very much coz I’m not that professional and only a K20 student. Don’t bother; I really liked the design of P9. N6680 touches me with its gray and silver linings and metal color encapsulation combined together – kicks butt. The design of 6680 is more compact and lighter than P9. Compared with the previous series 60 phones of Nokia, I find it more durably designed not the plasticky ol 3650 & 6600. FEATURES. I do admit, SE P9 has lots of “computer” side features and of course we all know it’s a PDA-phone and 6680 is a smartphone. The cut and copy paste operation of SE P9 is still my favorite and of course the touch screen. Since I have used Nokia 7650 & 6600, I still prefer the “one-hand” phone operation rather than the two-hand touchy-touchy screen operation. But hey, 6680 is now a WCDMA/EDGE/GSM phone – 3G! SE P9/910 – nope. P9 is just a hefty priced PDA phone with slightly obsolete features. 6680s camera – 1.3 Megapixel with 6x variable digital zoom, P9/910i only 0.5 mp. Although P910i’s screen color (260K+) is the same with 6680, I prefer Nokia’s screen brightness and check out the new light sensor that conserves battery power and adjusts the LCD and keypad light indicators depending on the light condition you have – another kick butt feature! I really like it!!! I’ll give you Nokia 10/10 for that! P9’s screen uses much of the juice and has less battery management features.SYSTEM. I really like Nokia’s series 60 operated phone. Memory management is cool. Exits programs after using them. P9 still has the previously loaded programs in memory thus making the phone slower after loading some programs. Still needs a 3rd party apps to unload tasks. About the connection, File transfer over Bluetooth over my laptop is faster 36kbps whereas P9 is only 14Kbps average. The only downfall of the 6680 is it lacks an infrared communication system. Sometimes, you will encounter phones and laptops with only infrared port installed. ENTERTAINMENT. Stereo sound on Nokia phone? 6680 has it. Cool. MP3 playback and full screen video playback is awesome. I’m not a game lover so it’s ok if it only has two games preinstalled. And of course, it’s a 3D Java phone (I just read it from a website not from Nokia). VALUE. Here in my place (the cell phone central of the world where even the beggars use Nokia 8250) the price of 6680 and P910i are almost exactly the same. Approx. Php 32,000 (US$580). For me, Nokia 6680 is a great buy phone. Thumbs up! By the way I switched to Sony Ericsson P9 after having the nokia 6600. I found it less “featurized” for my work and multimedia needs. And of course Nokia phones price always drops down each week. Sony Ericsson does not. But!!! After having the SE P9, I was so surprised that the selling rate is so low compared to Nokia. Say for example I bought the SE P900 for 10 and the selling rate is only 4. Whereas Nokia’s selling price is almost 75% of the original value and you can even have it pawned in a pawnshop here in my place if you badly need money. You cannot pawn any other brands here other than Nokia.CONCLUSION. Ease of use, new 3G functionality and capabilities, 1.3MP with flash camera and a stereo music player. My new phone – Nokia 6680.
cool looking phone
dude they have a thing that is better the SE's that is their smartphones..n so what if Nokia imtates SE SE immtates Nokia sometimes such as built in cameras... dude if their comapanies did not copy each other then we wouldnt have so many diff brand name....n the K750 is the same as k700 but improved thats all the software is not new just updated.....
