Nokia 6280 Review (Expert)

You will experience no problems with connection using the phone. The presence of speech improvement and sound equalizer provides clear sound in the loudspeaker even in very noisy places. Vibracall works perfectly. First, it is powerful enough; second, you can switch it on with a musical signal of any supported format. You will perfectly feel the vibracall both in a shirt pocket and in a waist case. Polyphony happened to lose sense in the phone, now you can set not only an mp3 file but an aac one as a call signal. Despite EMS function is realized partly, it is an obvious advantage. A mistake with a group melody is improved, now it is played back correctly, and is not replaced with a standard melody. A great plus of the model is a simultaneous support for EDGE and WCDMA 2100 (UMTS). By the way, a GSM copy of the phone is called the 6270. And the differences between the models were described above. A couple of 6680/6681 comes to mind. Phone's disadvantages cover low call signal when it is mp3, old version of T9 (it can't guess and autosubstitution), no autofocus in the camera and quite middling themes. And still you can't transfer files and folders to the second level folders. The very fact that Series 40 third edition is used allows supposing the global transfer to the Series 60 in the company. Soon the fortieth platform will be exclusively used in low-end and middle class models. And a feature of new phones is Series 60 with a more flexible operating system. By the way complete transfer to it requires now only a volitional impulse, as technologies and a customer are ready.

The use of Series 40 makes the Nokia 6280 noticeably zippier than its Series 60-based relatives, which is something you will appreciate if you often skip between applications. We got a good couple of days of use out of the handset between charges, but were not overly heavy on music playing or 3G usage. Doing much either will deplete the battery more quickly, as will using Bluetooth. The camera only rates as average in our book, as despite its 2 megapixels, there was a lack of color definition and sharpness to our shots that left us unimpressed. For anything approaching serious shots, we suggest you look elsewhere. On the other hand, the 6280 produced good sound output, both from the radio and the music player, and the equalizer had enough of an effect on sound for us to recommend it. Again we have a grumble, though--there's not enough volume for listening through the handset speaker.

Nokia’s 6280 is the most capable Nokia Series 40 handset to date, however fails to impress in light of its fierce competition. Its battery life, browsing and video calling capabilities are all of mediocre quality, resulting in an average overall impression as a 3G handset. On the other hand, the upgraded Series 40 user interface and decent 2 Megapixel camera with VGA video recording could very well render the 6280 this year’s ultimate handset for those who favour Nokia handsets. €500 EUR, available throughout Europe. What's positive: Upgraded Series 40 user interface; comfortable keypad. What's negative: Mediocre battery life; average 3G performance

Neutral review: I've been using this unit (6280) for quite sometime now...I have had several problems such as HANG-UP'sCASE Broken...RIBBON REPLACED(which cost me much money) due to the grinding effect of its slide type built. REFORMATED and REPROGRAMMED because the system crashed while down loading files.with all those negative things that I've experiencedI can still say that I find this phone (in a way) nice in its own right. However I would definitely recommend for you to find other cellphones better than this one. if your contemplating on buying this one.

so so so crap of a phone. same problem as wally's review in the way that the music player cuts out.. but a solution is to turn it down to half loudness. dust in the cover, cracked cover and buttons -$150 AUD to fix that plus it sometimes comes up with 'barred' or something and asks me for an access code, i have to turn it off and back on again. Battery life is crap too. if you had a choice, the 6288 is a much better deal and way less problems and bugs. I've had both [since i threw my 6288 and broke it, i've had to use a 6280] crap photos in the dark, crappy internal memory - had to buy a memory card $150 AUD just so i could take photos. Sometimes camera/recorder doesn't even work! so unreliable. crappest phone ever.

well.......... where to begin. kept crashing using music player had whole phone replaced twice n all 3 phones did it. went back to nokia times in total of all 3 phones with same problem. screen kept freezing, sending sms, trying to open memory card. wasn't until the latest update that most of the problems were fixed but i still have a few issue wit music player freezing & now my media player freezes playing video's. my overall view of this phone is it sucks & if you get any problems return it to the store n ask 4 a different model of phone never ending issues.

Had my 6288 for a couple of weeks now and it's good, though I'm on my second one as the first one was faulty. One major gripe, the top 3 buttons of the keypad (1,2,3) are a right pain in the a**e to use as they are too close to the top section of the phone and I keep catching my fingers on it while texting!Internal memory is very poor. Though a new 2GB memory card, 14.00 GBP from e-bay, soon sorted that out! The same card from the same manufacturer at Argos was 50 quid!!Battery needs charging near enough every night, but I do work out in the sticks so the phone is constantly searching for signal.Ringing volume is also an issue. Not nearly as loud as it needs to be.No problems with the sliding action yet. I live close to a Nokia Service Centre, so they can sort it under warranty if it does become a problem. In all I'll give it a vote of 7/10
