Nokia 6230i Review

Nokia 6230iFlexible, efficient, and powerful: the Nokia 6230i phone shares the same classic design as the popular Nokia 6230, but we've revved up the features inside! We upgraded the camera resolution to 1.3 megapixels so you can show off your images in print. There's now 32 MB of internal memory, which is easily expandable with removable MMC cards (up to 512 MB). Use the phone as a storage device for photos, music and video files - or even documents and presentations. When you need to get files from one device to another, the Nokia 6230i phone gives you true versatility with Bluetooth technology, infrared, Pop-Port, USB, and GPRS/EDGE networks.

Nokia 6230i Review (Expert)

The Nokia 6230i is a very welcome upgrade of the Nokia 6230, as the 6230i offers both an improved display and a 1.3 megapixel camera snapping stills at high quality. Au contraire, we find a mediocre navigational button, as well as audio quality which does not perform on par with other high-end handsets where more of an emphasis has been placed on audio playback. The Nokia 6230i comes recommended for people wanting a classic Nokia handset, offering a good battery life, great user interface and EDGE as well as Bluetooth connectivity. What's positive: Small and slender; EDGE enabled; solid business functionality What's negative: Mediocre navigational button; poor entertainment skills

The main cavil concerns the mail client quality; it will be up to only a few and will be unacceptable on the local markets due to the absence of a fully-functional support for various codings. Permanent ignoring the EMS standard is not a plus for the company. The interface improvements are quite interesting, but still there are some functions realized not the best way from the ergonomics point of view. Working with the folders of the memory cards haven't been improved, second level folders are not seen and that prevents from using them for storing music. That has become a bad tradition the melody assigned to a user does not play at the incoming call and is replaced with a standard signal set for all the users. The navigation speed when moving along the main menu represented as rows of icons also seems a serious minus. Unfortunately, the increase of the functionality and improvements of the interface tells upon the general operating speed negatively. As a result we see an evident advantage of Nokia 6230i over the previous model, but we would not advise to replace one device with another.

For those who have been happily using their 6230 since getting it, the chance of an upgrade to this newer model is highly unlikely. But with the life cycle of mobile phones becoming shorter, those who have been planning an upgrade will either go for one of Nokia’s smartphones – or a similar-but-better model offered by a competitor...Yes, it’s obvious that I’m very disappointed with this product. But, at the same time, I’m also saddened by the fact that Nokia has done quite poorly with their product offerings within the last 18 to 24 months. The 6230 was one of the few exceptions that I personally considered as being a good handset – and instead of furthering their success with this product category by creating another winning product, they’ve simply extended its product life further by teaching a old dog new tricks.

QUOTE(kksi @ Dec 20 2007, 06:57 AM)6230i. Very good phone. Only flipside is the mono-loudspeaker and the playback in loudspeaker mode  but the sound is clear and crisp with earphones on. The phone sports a dumb looking cover but ... beneath the surface, this phone IS feature loaded.I'm also satisfied with this phone, it's almost a year now and they are looking so great.

The Nokia 6230i is a welcomed upgrade of the Nokia 6230 overall the phone is great, the ability to have themes, connectivity via bluetooth, infered and PC sending allsorts of file types.Theres one thing that annoys me and that is the games there not you standard 128 x 128 series 40, you have to make sure your downloading series 40 v3 or as i like to call it series 45 which is a screen size of 208 x 208.Appart from that everything else works fine and i've had no problems since getting the phone, my rating is .
