Motorola RAZR V3x Review (Expert)
The model has no problems with the connection quality being a typical modern device. Musical component is on the triplet's level, mp3 play back is present and limitations are not as strict. Signal volume is higher than average, Midi-files are played in the 64-tones polyphony that sound well also. The vibra is average or a bit more powerful. The loudspeaker volume is enough during a conversation almost always. Due to the shortage of chipsets EDGE is not provided in the first shipped phones. And the company plans to solve the problem only in spring 2006. The second disadvantage is GoForce 4200 works only when the camera works. The developers had no time to finish the software, and as a result the graphical accelerator is used nowhere. On the other hand the company placed no emphasis on it when introducing the phone, so, everything is fair. Later the maker plans to realize a full support for the graphical chip, which will provide higher performance both in 2D and 3D applications. People who already bought the model will have problems with renewing the software and turning the accelerator. Considering how slow the company develops software, we can suppose that the renewal of this model with independent voice recognition, a fully-functional GoForce and some functional improvements will appear in the beginning of the summer 2006. That is why Motorola V3x is only an intermediate solution, a kind of a test sample to test technologies and new applications. Despite it all the model is interesting as a cheap UMTS solution. Without a contract the price forms 450-500 USD, and in the beginning of March retail price will form 350-400 USD. This handset is interesting for the general functionality, a good screen, the absence of direct rivals. Siemens SXG75 could pretend on this role if it were modern but not a previous generation phone. Direct comparison of these two phones and their functions revealed that the Siemens' product lost even at a higher price. You shouldn't wait for this model, though it tries to play on the same field as Motorola V3x. The V3x will have moderate sales on open non-operator markets, and nevertheless future models based on this phone will be of greater interest.
Motorola's RAZR was a vast worldwide hit thanks to its undeniably sharp design, but those that delved deeper than the superficiality of its look found the specifications somewhat lacking. RAZR V3x, a 3G variant with generally improved specifications all round. Fatter than the original RAZR, but remains Motorola's thinnest 3G handset to date. In one way, Motorola has done itself proud in using a single mini-USB connector for mains power, headphones and connecting to a PC. As far as the rest of the edges of the RAZR V3x are concerned, there are a couple of buttons on both left and right. These buttons are all pretty sensitive, and unfortunately we found ourselves accidentally hitting the voice command button when picking the phone up, which was irritating. At least all bar the camera button are inactive when the clamshell is closed. One of the things Motorola is emphasising with the RAZR V3x is its surround sound. You won't get to appreciate this through the single speaker on the back of the handset, which outputs to a reasonable volume but doesn't deliver much by way of depth. The 2-megapixel camera shot images of decent quality. Colours weren't quite a sharp as we'd like, but we've definitely seen worse. You won't get a huge amount of life out of the battery as Motorola's suggestion of 99 minutes of video talk from a full charge indicates. But as the RAZR V3x is not really intended as a full-frontal music player, and assuming you aren't going to want to make lengthy video calls every day, you should be able to get by for a couple of days between charges.
There are many aspects of the new RAZR V3x that deserves commendation – like how Motorola managed to cram many of the latest technologies into such a form factor, and the use of a new soft touch plastic design for its external shell giving a whole new look-and-feel. But in my mind, the goodness of a phone isn’t simply just the things that it’s good at – or its selling points...Many people who went ahead to buy a RAZR V3 for themselves have found themselves hating the phone not because of its design and looks – but how annoyed they become after trying to take on the UI and realising, after futile attempts to understand it, that it’s nowhere as easy to use as their last Nokia! And up to this very day, this very same issue will haunt those who decide to take the V3x into their lives. The UI may have seen vast improvements in the area of how it looks – that is, when compared to the original RAZR’s induction. For those who’ve not had the experience of using a Motorola 3G handset, the UI on the V3x may be an eye-opener. The V3x = a V3 with upgraded features, redone in soft touch plastic, and still very darn hard to use!

Well, basically it's a quite good phone (and cheap) but the capacy of the battery is very low. I have to charge it every single day. I aslo sent it to Motorola, but it didn't change anything. Maybe you've better luck.
this phone is very very very very undependable ... but i gotta say its screen quality and menus are a bit better than any other razor series phone ... its bulky but i dont have a problem with that ... trust me after using this phone for a few months it will start to give somekind of trouble ... well everyone knows its just another motorola ... what can i say it got java but not so many applications are supported ... or games ... my friends razr v3x started to give a problem with its bluetooth even when the bluetooth on it wont be detected by other phones and u cant transfer any files even any other phones cant be detected by its bluetooth search option ...so he had to take it to a dealer where they fixed it , in the repairing center we saw a hell a lot of v3's on the table i asked a guy who was there , wht were those v3s are for he said its the most undependable phone and that most of the phones which they get for repairs are motorolas specially the razr v3 series phones ...and again after my friend got it repaired after another few months another big problem with it - suddenly the mp3 player started to give very low sounds through the phone speaker even with the volume set to the max ...i advice u not to buy this phone for its prize u can get something better than this or else go for a moto e6 if ur a moto fan ...
I really like it and have had it a year now. No probs whatsoever.I also did a really good shop around before I bought it. And the price was cheaper to comparative ones.
Yeah... I also.. 1st, its 2 pricey... No proper Java Support, Basic Muzic optionz, awfl headphones....... I can get a K750 in that price.... (or Z550 if I want flip)... or atleast, if I had 2 choose between any MOTO, I will go with L7i.......
LOL V3x*sigh*to be honest i work at a Telstra Shop in Sydney Ausand i tell you now that phone is like the most common going for repairs,1. horrible software issues especially the mid batches 3-4months after release.2. cover diminishes over time, rubs off etc,Only Good thing about it is the Liquid ingress markeri give this phone 2/10 its nothing special i wouldnt buy this if you gave it to me...
Thet best fone i ever had... i just love it
djiresh@gamil.comI'm using my V3x from 2 months and found no poblams. Model suports many extrentions such as aac, wma, eaac,mp4.... so u won't get aloe, mucic is always on the goimage camara is excellent...... i gurantee that it is better than nokia n 90 camara. but u have to use the camara carefully. use lighting conditions when capturing iamge.Video camara is slow and i can't reccomand to fammily video.sounds are very good and clear.i'm using my phone with 1GB chip and phone doesn't seem slow at all.it has a flash and powerful than N70so i reccomand the V3x for any one who wish to buy,.......i forgot to say.. Battery is horryble.. u have to byu a exter battery.contact me for more details..djiresh<email snipped>.com
I had my V3x for 5 days now. Its my 1st clamshell-type phone and well ... its true the battery is terrible compared to my other phones with somehow same usage. I was thinking of having an extra battery to meet the demands of my job meaning NO EXCUSES for the battery getting low and worse.. Dead. 2 megapixel camera-phone may seem attractive but please BEWARE ! Its not the number of megapixels that determine good or quality pictures but the technology of the sensors within. The higher the pixels equals how large you want to blow-up or enlarge the picture without blurring the images. So, in this camera-phone 1 out 10vote . Picture quality is poor if you compare it to its competitors with even lower megapixels.
the v3x is amazing and the things it can do are unbelieveable . but the design is too bulky.
Is it compatible with MSDict? IS it better than than N6630, or does it really suck that much?
RAZR V3x...The fone was great...i just love it..yevkovphil
Got my eyes set on this phone when it first came out. I would still say this has got to be the most reasonably priced 3G handset sold here. I have a friend who has the phone for 2 months now. She's really happy with it. Check everything before you leave the store. If you're not happy, return it especially if it has warranty. Still boils down as to how you take care of your things
Don't know what most of you are complaining about. Have had fone now for over 4 months and have had no probs what so ever. Fone came with software AND cable for data transfer, very easy to use if one takes the time to read manual.<swearword snipped>yUK;did yours fall off back of truck?Bat life 3-4 days (even with BlueTooth on).BlueTooth picks up in-car unit everytime (MAXCALL unit).Camera buttons; easy fix, go out and buy a transparent plastic case that clips over phone, no more problems. (got mine from eBay AU$7.95).Only time mine turns off is when I turn it off!!!Sounds like u got a dud, take it back under warranty, or like I said, did it fall of the back of a truck?
This phone is ok for me! I don't know why are you so disapointed with that phone. So far, that is the best phone I got. I thought to buy nokia ....something... sport because it's have symbian... I hope so I didn't f** myself!
