well not a bad phone at all but a few unavailable options make me give it 8 out of 10 ...

its lack of prob,quality 2.1 surround sound,quality sound in earphone,easy to sms n taking pic.. also easy to go to mp3.. the VGA cam can fight with the nokia 3250 even sometime better,its hard to broken,maybe its got the absorber in it.. even after 5 years i use it,its still maintain.. the keypad still great n average all r still in good cond,good as new.. only the batt i change to a new 1 coz its oredi 5 years.. i still use the ori cover but i change the screen cover.. a lot scratch.. the software not even once broken.. the disadvantage is no 3G,no video cam,bluetooth 1.1,memory only till 512mb,no equalizer.. only 3gp n mpeg4 playback n only VGA cam.. i satisfy with it n i give 4 out of 5 rating..

I have modded it andTHE BEST SOUND for play mp3's through SPEAKERphone, there are no "handphones" can bit IT.

I've had my Motorola E398 for almost 2 years now:Pros: Nice display, easy to use, fun preinstalled games, easy to install new games with the right programs, lots of featurescons: After Motorola Software update a few bugs appeared, nice rubber coating came off partly on the bottom after 2 years of useOtherwise, I really don't have any real complaints about the Phone, but I'm ready for a new one after 2 years!

it is the best fone i have ever had and i am using it right now. IT is the best moto for modding ever made. For flashing (changing the software) u will need to download RSD lite 2.7. And for skinning skinman. It's great,highly moddable..I would recommend using it if you would want to tinker your fone..Also this cellphone NEVER DIES! Just in case something goes wrong you can always revive this cellphone no matter what! I would recommend using this if you want to have a high quality highly moddable phone!

I'm currently using an Moto E398, but it was MOD by one of my friends & now it's now called an E398u . Why? MOD it using an Moto E1 ROKR!!! My E398 used to only take pics, NOW it can't just take pics... it can now record videos! Plus, it uses iTunes to play music! It can play music/mp3s when fone is not in use. Like an iPod! Love IT! Can't live without it!

The phone is very cool.It has got big clear (176*220) screen, high quality VGA camera, MP3 player and good java software, althought it has got a LOT of small bugs which are pretty iritating. I got it last year and it still hungs up well even the batery. I think it's one of the best phones I ever had, althought I'm prepareing to buy new Nokia 6270.
