Motorola A1000 Review (Expert)
In conclusion I'd like to say A1000 is surely a step forward for Motorola and the product looks interesting. But unfortunately it still has bluetooth problems and that puts serious limitations on the everyday use of the device. The model with the price of 700-750 USD competes with Sony Ericsson P900/ P910. A good package may be referred to advantages (depends on the country, in some bluetooth headset is not included into the kit), good basic functionality and the presence of a great number of compatible programs. Due to the absence of many Symbian-devices with a touchscreen A1000 is an interesting offer and it's cheaper than the rivals in the majority of countries. Those who use А920/А925 should certainly pay attention to A1000 since the devices are greatly different though having similar interfaces. And no doubt A1000 has no rivals as a 3G phone based on Symbian and having a touchscreen. This product is for those who understand how and what for they are going to use the device. So, Motorola A100 is not a mass solution.
In the final analysis, if your requirements are for one device that can access 3G content (video downloads and video calling), multimedia (video and audio) and has navigation capabilities the A1000 should be at the top of your list. However, you may need to check which services are activated/locked on your device if you buy a network subsidised A1000 as opposed to a SIM free A1000. If on the other hand you are looking for a device that provides support for business functionality "out off the box" and you need lots of memory on your device you should consider other options such as the SE P910 or the Nokia 9500/9300. If your requirements are for high speed data on the move then the A1000 is a good option if your 3G network supports 3G data and has reasonable coverage but you may also wish to consider devices that support WiFi or EDGE such as the Nokia 9500 and the Nokia 9300 (again you need to consider the availability of EDGE and wireless networks in your country).
As Motorolas first 3G device in Singapore with a touchscreen interface and PDA-like functionality, the A1000 provides strong evidence that future 3G models should adopt several aspects of its features, most notably its large display and user interface. As a phone, it doesn't do too badly either...At S$988 (US$602.44) with a two-year plan, the A1000 is the costliest of available 3G models in Singapore. However, we feel its design and features are well-catered to providing a smooth 3G experience without compromising its functionality as a mobile phone. Despite minor flaws such as occasional loading lags, the A1000 is still a powerful PDA-phone blend and well worth considering.

i dont know if it is nice but my opinion is it looks like s hit! SorrY
this is what it should have been from the beginning. a1000 is a reasonable phone while a920/925 where complete disasters who should never have reached the market.there are some nice features you simply won't find elsewhere, such as the incredible stereo sound from the phones built in speakers and the picsel viewer software, that allows you to read pdf, doc, xls, jpg, ppt and several other file types with ease. it wont allow you to write to the files but it's still good enough as it is.other nice features include (but are not limited to) the movian vpn software, allowing you to access your company server's files and folders from anywhere. the internet browser has a full screen mode accessed by the push at a button (the second game button that is, the first game button will display or hide the menu bar). talking about game buttons, playing games or watching videos on the a1000 is a real treat. the screen delivers crisp, clear images and is quite bright too. there are some designer flaws, like the nav key, which is too small and sensitive, and the placement of the stylus at the bottom of the phone where it cannot be removed when the phone is attached to its docking station. the need to remove the battery to access the memory card slot is something new; the a920/925 models allowed you to hot swap the card. why, motorola, why do you do this to us?the most annoying problem with the uiq os is that the virtual keypad loads really slow and lacks in functionality. why is there no cut, copy and paste buttons on the keypad? everytime you use any of those functions the keypad disappears into oblivion and takes forever to reload again. i really envy the owners of se p910 for the alphanumeric qwerty keypad, someone please get me a real keypad for the a1000.all in all the a1000 is quite a piece of art and i would gladly recommend it to anyone who feel the need to consolidate their gadgets into one master gadget. this is the future of mobile communications/entertainment/productivity/etcetera.
