use the hard format method. that's the best one.
- Turn off PIN code requests.
- Charge the phone fully.
- Turn off the phone.
- Remove the memory card (not really needed, but do it to be on the safe side).
- Put the phone on a table (easier to press the keys).
- Press the three keys and keep them securely down and do not release.
- While the keys are still down, turn the power on.
- Do not release the three keys until you see the prompt for the home city.

press (*+3+green button) after switching the phone off then turn it on while holding these three buttons
you can format your N70 by two ways.
1..*#7370#
2..* + 3 + green button + power button
*7370# is the best one but backup your contact and other file.
go the memory card-> (options)-> (format mem.card)
all dudes dere r 3 methods to format ur phone memory......
1) dial *#7370# on ur phone from ur phone keypad....(little bit difficult method)
2) dial *#7780# on ur phone from ur mobile keypad (VERY EASIEST METHOD OF FORMAT)
3)*+3+green(buttons) method
(((very very very very difficult method)....
i prefer all nt to use this one......
i prefer not to use the 3rd method.....
if not confident send to shop 
phone memory cannot be format.
it can be flash to clean all the stuff in the phone.
two ways to format
1) dial *#7370# (Requires security code)
2) switch off phone then press *,3,call button and power on the phone(don't release the keys until the screen shows formatting)(it donot require security code)

You can however reset it to factory settings, that will deleat prety much everything
